Yolanda Licursi Obituary

Licursi, Yolanda, 92, longtime resident of Farmingdale passed away March 20, 2024. Reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband of 47 years, Carl. Devoted and loving mother of Carol Brocker (Russell) and Lisa D’Acunto (Paul). Adored Nana of Sean (Ashley), Jason, David (Gaby) and Paul. Predeceased by her cherished siblings Teresa, Dorothy and Anita. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. Yolanda made a lasting impact wherever she went. Her generosity, love, selflessness, and integrity were unmatched and everyone she met loved her. Yolanda was a special person, finding happiness in simplest of places, setting a good example for her children and grandchildren and instilling in them the importance of family and doing the right thing. Her family was the light of her life and when her grandchildren entered the room, her heart would expand five times. Throughout her life, Yolanda took amazing care of her family, and when the time came that she needed caring for, her children were honored to have the opportunity to do a quarter of what she did for them.  In their younger years, Yolanda and Carl made the perfect team, when work needed to be done around the house, she was his assistant, when cooking in the kitchen, she was his “sous-chef” and when any of life’s storms came, they were each other’s lifeboat. Every year, Carl and Yolanda looked forward to Christmas Eve, where they made a delicious Italian spread for the entire family, where many laughs were shared, and many memories were made. Yolanda was a skilled seamstress, taking after her father who was a tailor, she was able to make just about anything you could imagine. She was always open to learning new things, making her a very influential person who loved sharing her 92 years of knowledge with anyone who would listen. Amongst her many catching phrases, her family will never forget “haste makes waste”. Allowing her to further expand her array of knowledge, she was an avid reader and spent many days wandering the aisles at the library. Yolanda also enjoyed watching classic movies, art, history and gardening. Later in life, she found tranquility watching the flora and fauna out her window and looked forward to Paul’s shrimp and broccoli rabe dinners, but one thing never changed, her love for her family. Yolanda was truly one of a kind and her legacy will live on forever by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. The family will receive visitors Friday, March 22nd, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale. Funeral Mass Saturday, March 23rd, 9:15 am at St. Kilian RC Church. Interment following at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
