Procida, Susan J., 77, longtime resident of Bethpage passed away on August 18, 2023. Beloved wife to Frank for 23 years, 51 years in spirit. Loving mother of Frank (Normita), Kristen Dorazio (Max) and Thomas (Lisa). Adored Mema of Max, Eliana, Anthony, Ella, Alivia, Matthew and William. Dear sister of the late Ellen Butler and the late Linda Koehl. Loving sister-in-law to Jenny and Ray Gallo, Gaspar and Bella Procida, Al and Martha Procida, and Marie and Jack Caulfield. Treasured aunt of Thom Butler (Laura), Beth Altieri (Al), James Butler (Marie), Michael Butler (Wendy), Richard Koehl (Dara), Stephen Procida (Linda), Gary Procida (Barbara), Peggy Cregan (Mike), Frankie Procida (Lisa), James Caulfield, Joanne Caulfield, Raymond Gallo (Virginia), Margaret Cariola (Rich), Albert Procida (Denise) and Jeff Procida. Cherished cousin of Mary Hartmann, Denise Komnick (Ben) and Billy Hartmann. Susan was raised in Baldwin, and graduated high school in Ithaca before moving to Rochester, where many of her cherished memories were made. She developed her love for animals at a young age, which continued through adulthood, rescuing many dogs and cats. She enjoyed gardening, music (played loudly, in the car), dancing, and watching baseball, boxing and horse racing. Although Susan was dealt a tough hand, losing her husband at 49, she remained resilient. She was a strong, independent woman who worked hard to create a life of opportunities for her children and was honored to be able to support them through college. She absolutely adored her family and spent as much time as she could with them. Susan and her children made many unforgettable memories at Jones Beach, Tobay Beach, Delray Beach, Myrtle Beach and Lake George. When her children traveled abroad, she loved having the opportunity to visit them in Italy, Belgium, and London. Susan, who might first come off as reserved, came to life after becoming comfortable; before long her funny, talkative, opinionated, caring, loving, loyal self would come out, and if you connected you would have a friend for life. Susan was loved and well respected by all who met her, becoming a mother figure and confidant to many. Susan will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. The family will receive visitors Monday, August 21st, 1-3 and 6-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Broadway, Bethpage. Funeral Mass Tuesday, August 22nd, 10 am at St. Martin of Tours RC Church. Cremation Private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Susan’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; stjude.org.
