Robert T. Smith, Jr.

Smith Robert T., Jr, 83, of  Centereach, NY passed October 20, 2023 at the age of 83.  His wife, Barbara, is left to cherish 58 years of marriage. Robert and Barbara were blessed with a devoted daughter, Jeanne and her husband Frank Gatto of Farmingdale. It has been a blessing to his three grandchildren, Angela, Christina and Frankie to grow up knowing their terrific grandfather. To welcome him to everlasting life were his parents, Robert Sr. and Frances, and his sisters,  Barbara Pokora and Linda McKenna. He will always be remembered by his brothers-in-law Billy Pokora, Jim McKenna, Paul Kleizo (Ellen), Gerard Kleizo, and Peter Kleizo. Cherished uncle Cindy Pokora, Diane Woodward, Debbie Elias, and nephews Jake Sealey, Brendan McKenna, P.J. Kleizo, Gordon Kleizo. His work and talent as an electrician  with IBEW25 was of great assistance when he was enjoying one of his favorite past times, restoring antique cars. His kidney transplant entered him into the Club of The High Seas Rally Cruisers and his dedication to helping his community included volunteering with the Roslyn Highlanders Fire Department and the Rotary Club of Centereach and the honor of receiving the Rotary International's Paul Harris Fellow Award. Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, October 23, 2-4 and 6-8 pm, at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale. Gathering at the funeral home Tuesday, October 24, at 10:30 am with an 11 am prayer service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Robert's name to Kidney Transplant Services at Stony Brook Medicine, www.stonybrookmedicine.edu.
