Robert “Bob” Albertson Sr. loved and married his high school sweatheart, Ann 63 years ago. He was the proud father of Robert Jr., John and Kurt. Adoring father-in-law to Colleen, Maraya and Teresa. He was Opa to his cherished grandchildren Stephen, Meghan, Jack, Milena and Colette. Bob was a third generation Bethpager and stalwart supporter of his beloved
hometown where he lived the entirety of his life. Sadly, he passed on March 18 th .A proud Grummanite, he worked for the Grumman Corporation for 36 years and amongst other accomplishments, had his hands on every F-14 Tomcat fighter jet manufactured. He was honored to serve in the New York National Guard for six years. Ex-Captain of Engine Company One, Drive Committee member and firefighter with the Bethpage Volunteer Fire Department. A board member and instrumental in organizing The Central Park Historical Society where his vast knowledge of Bethpage was invaluable. Later in life, he accepted and was welcomed into the Catholic faith at Saint Martin of Tours Church. Bob and the late George Hoban were known as the carpenters of the Nazareth Carpenter Shop. With their combined talents, they designed and built many projects that benefited the parish and worshipers. At home, Bob enjoyed his workshop, tinkering, his garden, home and journeys around Long Island with his wife, Ann. He was always available to lend a hand, his knowledge or powertools. He will be remembered as a good neighbor, a supporter of his community, a true friend and a man who cherished his wife and family. In Lieu of flowers, a fund is being created to place an official New York State historic marker in the area once known as “Swedetown” and dedicated in Bob’s memory. This is the area where his family first came to Bethpage (Central Park at the time) and put down roots in 1915.
