Obituary

Black, Richard A., 85, of Farmingdale, passed away unexpectedly April 1, 2022. Beloved father of Cindy Lee Sliskovic (Dr. Robert), Richard Jr., Jeffrey (Theresa), Charles (Robin) and the late Brian. Cherished grandfather of Rachel (Justin), Jonathan, Mikaela, Danielle (Chris), Michael, Dr. Jordan (Esly), Jeffrey, Breanna, Keith (Keara) and Tyler. Loving great grandfather of Riley, Carter, Sean, Cameron, Aiden, Jacoby, Isabella and Isla. Dear brother to Carol Calabrese (Pete) and the late Charles (Gerry). Devoted companion to Shirley. Richard was kind, gentile, respectful, intelligent, funny and outgoing. He was the family patriarch and story teller. Richard was a HUGE Yankees and Giants fan and loved sports. Richard attended the University of Scranton where he pursued engineering degree and participated in various sports at the college level. He also played competitive softball for many years and shared his passion on teams with his sons. For many years, he rented a house in Thousand Islands in Clayton, NY to fish and where he spent countless summers with his family. The family will receive visitors Friday, April 8, 2022, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Broadway, Bethpage. Funeral Mass Saturday, April 9th, 10 am at St. Martin of Tours RC Church. Interment following at Gethsemane Cemetery, Congers, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Richard's memory to the ASPCA; ASPCA.org.
