Mary Ann had a pure heart and was kind. She loved and cared about people and animals (dogs and cats), especially the underdogs. She loved life. She laughed, smiled and always put her heart into everything she did. She enjoyed our family outings on our large wooden boat on Long Island with our brothers, sisters, parents and our rescued beagle “Cappy” aka “Captain”. We enjoyed floating on big tire tubes on the serene, peaceful bay. Floating on the bay was like being a part of a beautiful lullaby and we were taught the beauty of simplicity. Mary Ann embraced simplicity.
Mary Ann welcomed each and every rescue animal that our parents brought home (cats & dogs) with a hug and a kiss, especially our beagle “Cappy”, our black Labradors especially “Pepper”, cats “Midnight and Crackers” and the abandoned puppies that my father saved from an opened sewer in the road. Mary Ann was very gentle and loved to watch Cappy swim in the Bay with us, watched TV with Pepper, snuggled with Midnight and Crackers and gently cradled the two Little Puppies.
Mary Ann wrote songs, colored in her favorite coloring books, prayed and went to church every Sunday until she became wheelchair bound. She loved listening to Joel Osteen and to her favorite artists, The Beatles, Barry Manilow, Kenny Loggins and Chicago to name a few. Her favorite songs were “Hey Jude”, “This One’s For You”, “Celebrate Me Home” and “Make Me Smile”. Music was a huge part of her life.
Mary Ann had health challenges down the road, but she always remained positive. She never complained and always looked on the bright side. I don’t know of any other person in the entire world that could have gone through what my sister did … and still be able to smile.
My sister Mary Ann was a brave, pure spirit and she was my true Hero.
We love you with all of our Heart and Soul dear Sister… You are Our Beautiful Angel in Heaven.
