Mary Benci

Benci, Mary, 88, of Scottsdale, AZ, formerly of Bethpage, passed away October 17, 2023. Reunited in Heaven with her beloved sons, Richard and Edward. Loving mother of Joseph (Marybeth). Cherished grandmother of Jennifer, Dana, Gina, Corey, Gage and Jake. Dear sister of Anne Krajlic and the late Michael. Mary was born in Croatia and was very proud of her Croatian heritage. She also lived in Germany for a short while before making her way to the United States. She was tri-lingual, speaking Croatian, German and English. Mary was determined, strong-willed and particular. To say that Mary’s home was clean would be an understatement. It was immaculate. In her older years, when it became too hard for her to clean herself, she wanted to hire a professional cleaner. But that was short-lived, because even in her old age she still blew away professional cleaners. Mary tended to a beautiful garden of various flowers and vegetables. If she saw a flower or plant that she liked, she would take a small leaf, bring it home and tend to it until she could plant it. She enjoyed playing the harmonica for her family, playing the only tune she knew how to play. Mary was a loving, dedicated mother who would do anything for her children and for that and so much more she will be forever missed. The family will receive visitors Thursday, November 2nd, 4-8 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale. Funeral Mass Friday, November 3rd, 11:15 am at St. Martin of Tours RC Church, Bethpage. Interment following at St. Charles Cemetery.
