Obituary

Martini, Martha, 85, of Bethpage was raised to Heaven on Easter Sunday, April 9th, 2023. She loved her family: her husband, Joe; her Mom, Angela; her brother and sisters, Sonny, Marie, and Patricia; all of whom predeceased her. She leaves behind her adoring children, Matt (Magdalena) and JoAnne (Tom), and her especially beloved grandson, Thomas, who was "Her Sunshine". Growing up she was part of a large extended family with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loved her husband Joe, and always kept him in her heart and thoughts after his passing at too early an age. She would often say she felt his arms around her especially when there were butterflies around. Besides raising and loving her two children, she loved their friends and became like a Second Mother to many of them, often joining in the fun and keeping them laughing. She was caring and thoughtful, often giving of her time and efforts to help others. She was a longtime Parishioner of St. Martin of Tours RC Church and member of the Young at Heart. She had a joyous, infectious laughter and always had everyone laughing with her. She liked to dance. She and Joe were experts at the Lindy, Fox Trott, and Waltz. Later, she danced whenever she could at parties and weddings. Martha loved her desserts, often she would order a few just to taste them all. That and her daily glass of Carlo Rossi red wine kept her active and young-at-heart. Under the guidance of her Mom and Mother-in-Law, she became a fantastic cook. From everyday items like chicken and veal cutlets, and lentil soup with escarole to lasagna, everything she cooked had her special touch. Whenever she went out, she liked her appearance to be just so. Her clothes were always color-coordinated with her own sense of style and flair. And she made weekly trips to the beauty parlor to keep her hair styled and her nails done. She wasn't crazy about animals, but she always opened her heart for family pets. In fact, she opened her heart to everyone. She loved spending time with her friends and she would always go out of her way for them. Often driving them places or doing other nice things for them. She didn't like to be idle and had many different jobs throughout the years. She worked in a department store when she was young and made lifelong friends there. She did keypunch data entry in the days of computer punch cards, took care of babies at a local daycare center, worked in a bakery, and worked the front desk helping patients at Somerset Garden's Assisted Living facility. She also volunteered taking care of the "elderly" when she was in her 70s.She liked to travel: taking cruises to the Caribbean and even to Italy and Greece, traveling to Memphis, Florida, Las Vegas, or anywhere there was a slot machine. She often went with her friends on bus trips to Atlantic City. She even organized trips for the Young at Heart group, taking them to Religious Plays in Pennsylvania and to Atlantic City. The family will receive visitors Thursday, April 13th, 2-5 and 7-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Broadway, Bethpage. Funeral Mass Friday, April 14th, 10 am at St. Martin of Tours RC Church. Interment following at St. Charles Cemetery.
