Marion Mercado Obituary

Mercado, Marion C., 88, longtime Farmingdale resident, passed away February 10, 2024. Marion was born and raised in Woodside, New York. It was there that she met and married Bob Mercado. They moved to Farmingdale which became the lifelong home of their nearly 60 year marriage. Marion continued to commute to Manhattan to work at The American Book Company until her retirement. The Long Island Railroad train personnel became so fond of her that they reserved her favorite seat on the train. Marion was an active parishioner at St Killian RC Church since her arrival in Farmingdale. She was a volunteer for elections, treasurer for the Farmingdale Seniors and the Knights of Columbus Columbiettes. Marion is predeceased by her husband Robert, her parents Anna and Charles Corey, her sister Irene Wimmer (Ray), brothers Charles Corey and Robert Corey, and nephew Raymond Wimmer Jr. Marion is survived by her sister-in-law Rose Corey, nieces Roxanne Corey, Rosemarie Luhrman (Robert), Irene Pollio (Joseph), and their children and grandchildren. She is loved and respected by many and especially her friends Barbara and Louie Greco and family of Bob Mercado (Carolyn and Jim Fabian, Larry, Lauri Kraft, Tracy and Patrick Keene, Dan Kraft, George and Peggy Mercado, and Jim Mercado) who have shared her life. She will be missed. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 15th, 9:45 am at St. Kilian RC Church, Farmingdale. Interment following at Calverton National Cemetery.
