Laura Catapano Obituary

Catapano, Laura, 81, of Bethpage, passed away January 2, 2024. Beloved wife of 20 years to Gaetano Catapano. Loving mother of Al Giuliano, Laurie Zucchero (Dennis), Salvatore Giuliano (Gina), P.J. Giuliano, Kelly Giuliano, and stepmother of Carolann Catapano, Teri Black, and Thomas Catapano (Donna). Cherished grandmother of Kevin (Liz), Tiana Molloy (Rob), Allison Maher (Cameron Whittaker), A.J. (Susie), Sean, Salvatore, Bianca, Victoria, Lindsay (Marcello) Madison, Jordan (Esley) and Breanna. Cherished great-grandmother of Luke, Christopher, Lucy, William, Jaxson, Shea, Nico, Isabella and Magnolia. Devoted “Cat-Mom” of Tik and reunited in Heaven with her treasured first cat, Tiki. Laura had so many remarkable qualities that placed her in a class of all her own. She was a character and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her was left with a forever impression. Laura was loving, caring, understanding, encouraging, quick-witted, funny, strong and a practical joker. If you needed her, she was there, in good times, bad times and everything in between. Family time was very important to her, whether it was a quick visit, party, or a phone call, it all meant the world to her. When it came to birthdays, Laura really knew how to “throw” a birthday party and enforced the tradition that you must have your cake and wear it too. No one is sure how the cake fights started but one thing is for sure, she will haunt anyone who doesn’t continue the tradition. If Laura put her mind to something, she was unstoppable, she could build or fix just about anything, even building an entire room on her own. She had an affinity for all mediums of art. Laura’s love language was creating beautiful pieces of art for those she loved. Laura made Christmas ornaments for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren each year and everyone in the family has at least one painting or art piece that she made specifically for them. Her talents didn’t stop there, she was also an exceptional cook, her specialties were her infamous rice balls and spedini. Laura’s rice balls were always a fan favorite that she declared they could only be made for Christmas, making it all the more special. She traveled to Ireland, England, France, Alaska, went on many cruises with her lifelong best friend, Rose Marie Barlow. When she couldn’t travel, her favorite place to be was always the beach. Laura is not someone that could be easily forgotten, and her loved ones will forever carry on her legacy. The family will receive visitors Monday, January 8th, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Broadway, Bethpage. Funeral Mass Tuesday, January 9th 11:15 am, at St. Martin of Tours RC Church.
