Paccione, Kathleen J., “Kathy”, 65, of Shirley, passed away after a tough 3-year battle with cancer on September 2, 2023. Cherished daughter of John Rose Sr. and Joan Rose. Reunited in Heaven after 27 long years with her beloved husband, Joseph. Cherished fiancé and companion for many years of James Krauss. Loving and devoted mother of Jennifer Robinson (Daniel), Peter (Kat) and Patrick and “Bonus Mom” of Nicole Krauss (Anthony Grandinetti) and James Krauss (Kristyn). Amazing grandma and best friend of Mia Noel, Kaylie and Matthew and “Bonus Grandma” of Kylie, Hailey and James. Treasured sister of Laura Rose (Bonnie), Patricia Cutino (Ed Duncan), Suzanne Elia (Michael), John Jr. (Kerry) and Nancy Traina. Adored aunt of Raymond, Jason, Tony, Jessica, Janine, Alexis, Amanda, Debra Lee, Danielle, Frances, Jayme, Shanna, Joey, Dominick, Taylor White (Arthur III), Vincent (Kim), Frankie (Nick Avitable), Connor, Keree, Sal and the late Andrew. Also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Kathy was the definition of strength and resilience. She wasn’t dealt the best hand that life had to offer, but she never complained and continued on with a smile on her face. Kathy had a happy, upbeat personality but was extremely stubborn and strong-willed. She was always known for her long curly hair, that she would occasionally straighten with an actual iron and her extremely long, colorful, loud nails and her contagious laugh. Kathy always knew how to have fun and was a true kid at heart. She was always down for a good time, always ending the night with a Coors Light and a shot of blackberry Brandy, she would play beer pong with her kids and their friends in the backyard, jump on the trampoline showing all the kids up, doing cartwheels and back walkovers on the front lawn and would have shaving cream and egg fights in her kitchen with her family. And don’t even mention Kathy at the park, she would be on the swings, going down the slides and having a blast, just as much as the kids. For someone who grew up doing gymnastics, Kathy was a huge klutz and had terrible balance; if you looked at her sideways she would stumble. As happy go lucky as she was, don’t get her mad because whatever is in her hands, is coming for your head. “Duck” was a common phrase in their household, whether it be plates, food or calzones, nothing was off limits. Kathy had an unexplainable relationship with her granddaughter Mia Noel. The second Mia was born, a light was lit in Kathy. Mia and Kathy would go shopping, play Ty’s, bake, play squishes for hours and Kathy became the “slime master”, having the best slime recipe. She was really the coolest grandma, letting Mia do her makeup and never looking at the end result. One time, Mia put plum liquid blush on her face and told her it was foundation, not thinking anything of it they went to 7-11. As you could imagine, she was getting quite a few weird looks and Mia tried so hard to play it off. When they got home, she looked in the mirror and noticed she was no longer Kathy, she was Barney. Friday’s were always her happiest days, Jenny and Kathy would meet up with her parent’s and sisters at the diner where they shared many laughs over breakfast and at night she would have pizza Friday’s with Mia. It was an understatement that Kathy lived off 7-11 coffee. She would go there multiple times a day and when she was unable to go, she would always find a way, even if that meant having to heat it up. Even through the darkest days of her battle with cancer, if you asked her how she was, she was always good, happy and upbeat, she was way too stubborn to let cancer stop her. Kathy kept her quick wit and impossibly stubborn attitude until the very end. Flipping everyone off and making everyone laugh and for that and so much more, she will be forever missed. The family will receive visitors Friday, September 8th, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Conklin Street, Farmingdale. Funeral service Saturday, September 9th, 10:30 am at the funeral home. Interment following at The Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury.
