John Patrick Raftery, III

Raftery III, John Patrick, 50, of Seaford passed away after a long battle with cancer on December 27, 2021. Proud FDNY EMS Lieutenant, serving all Five Boroughs for over 28 years. Beloved husband of Kimberley Lucchese. Devoted stepfather to Joseph and Nicholas Lucchese. Loving son of the late John Patrick Raftery, Jr. and the late Kathleen Raftery. Cherished brother of James Raftery (Kristine), Kevin Raftery (Colleen) and Karen Raftery. Dear uncle of Cassandra Raftery and Kevin Raftery Jr. Adored nephew of Mary Ellen Merusi. Also survived by many cousins, friends, and brothers from the FDNY. John was an avid scuba diver and enjoyed any time spent under the water. His favorite place to scuba dive was Spiegel Grove in Key West, Florida. He was an educator for Advanced Life Saving Techniques. He enjoyed video games, anything on XBOX but specifically World of Warcraft. John had a warm, loving passionate spirit. His loyalty to his family and friends was unwavering. John will be remembered for his wildly sarcastic remarks, intelligent conversations, his ability to push everyone’s buttons for a reaction and his goofy side that only few were able to see. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, December 29th, 1-4 and 6-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Broadway, Bethpage. Funeral Service Wednesday, 8 pm at the funeral home.
