John J. Looney

Looney, John J., 56, of Bethpage passed away unexpectedly April 29, 2022. Beloved son of Daniel, Michael Murphy and the late Carol. Loving brother of Erin and Daniel. Cherished companion of 17 years to Michelle Derring. Adored father figure to Emily, Stephanie and Ryan and Dog Dad to Snoopy and Precious. Dear nephew of Barbara and Sue. Dedicated friend of Larry Bove and Eddie Bollinger. Also survived by many cousins and friends. John was loving, compassionate and extremely intelligent. He was a sports enthusiast, enjoying all sports, a huge Mets, Dolphins and Notre Dame fan and sports trivia fanatic. John was always the funniest guy in the room and had everyone laughing with his jokes and stories, which infamously started with "true story". He read the newspaper every day cover to cover until his favorite paper discontinued, then he started to watch youtube videos to keep up on his arsenal of useless information. John was passionate about animals and wildlife. The family will receive visitors for a memorial visitation Saturday, May 7th, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Broadway, Bethpage. Funeral Service Saturday, May 7th, 8:30 pm at the funeral home.
