Downey, John J., 90, of Limerick Ireland, and long-time resident of Bethpage, NY, entered eternal life on October 15, 2023. Beloved husband of 55 years to Mary. Loving father of Anne, Eileen Baumgaertner (Michael), Michele Cusack (James), and John Paul (Heather). Cherished grandfather of Rebecca, Ryan, Connor, Liam, Sydney, Delaney, Kate, Nathan, and Julia. Beloved brother-in-law and uncle of many nieces and nephews in Ireland and Scotland. John’s wit, wisdom, kindness, and generosity were a blessing to all who knew him. The family will receive visitors Monday, October 23rd, 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Broadway, Bethpage. Funeral Mass Tuesday, October 24th, 10 am at St. Martin of Tours RC Church. Cremation private.
