Gary C. Hungerford

HUNGERFORD – Gary C., 78, longtime Farmingdale resident passed away suddenly due to COVID-19 on January 6, 2021. Proud US Navy Corpsman and "Tin Can Sailor" Veteran. 1961 Graduate of Oneonta High School. Retired Operating Engineer for Local 138. Dedicated employee of J.D. Posillico Construction and Universal Testing Company. Reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife of 54 years, Felice (nee Posillico). Beloved father of Michael and his wife Ruth. Blessed grandfather of Samantha and Grace. Dear brother of the late Barbara. The family will be forever thankful and grateful for all of the first responders, caregivers, and doctors who did everything they could to help prolong his time here, so memories could continue to be made with his family. Due to the pandemic, there are no public funeral services. The family will celebrate Gary’s life with a memorial service this spring. Private interment with military honors was held at Long Island National Cemetery, Pinelawn. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in Gary’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project; woundedwarriorproject.org.
