Harvey, Charles A., Sr., 91, of Bethpage passed away March 20, 2023. Beloved husband of 59 years to Arlene. Loving father of William Harvey (Cynthia) and the late Charles A. Harvey, Jr. (Christa Broullon). Dear brother of Phyllis Meehan (the late James), Edward Harvey (Janet), Lucille Swancer (Steve) and the late Stanley (Evelyn). Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Proud Navy Veteran. Longtime avionics technician for Seaboard World, Flying Tigers and Federal Express at JFK Airport. Charles was a true family man. He always looked forward to weekly family dinners, where he always requested a family picture. Charles and his family traveled all over the country, going camping every year to Mongaup Pond, well into his late 80’s. They went skeet shooting, fly fishing, canoeing and on Jeep Jamborees. He was a simple man, who had a great sense of humor and an amazing gift of telling stories. When Charles told a story, he would have everyone at the edge of their seats completely engaged. He was an avid reader and a huge Civil War history buff. Charlie was the family historian, he kept an extensive family tree and kept track of the family names and bloodlines. He also collected and preserved very old black and white family photos and tin types as far back as the Civil War. Charles enjoyed sailing radio control sailboats and building model train tables. When his sons were younger, he opened their minds to building, letting them use his tools and teaching them. Charles will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The family will receive visitors Friday, March 24th, 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Broadway, Bethpage. Funeral Mass Saturday, March 25th, 10 am at St. Martin of Tours RC Church. Interment with military honors following at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
